Default Clicks once when starting...

I have a 2000 LHS with 84,000 miles. It was giffted to me from my grandfather. The other day I tried to start the car, turned the key, everything came on except when I turned it all the way I heard one click and the engine wouldn't start. Everything else was on. I thought it might be a battery issue but I thought it was weird that you didn't hear that constanct clicking that you normally do when you're batter is dead. Every time I would turn the key I heard one click and then nothing else. I kept turning it and turning it then finally after about 20 or 30 tries the car started. I've figured out that if I do it rapidly the car usually starts quicker with less turns the key than if I try to take my time. I'm pretty sure it's a starter problem but not sure if it's sign of bad relay or if I need a new starter. Any information or trouble shooting tips would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Bad Starter CONTACTS. These starters are very robust except for the contacts. For under $20. you can get a kit with contacts and plunger and save $$$
