cruise control problem

cruise control problem
When pressing the cruise switch on my 2000 LHS the light on the dash comes on for just a second then goes out. Will not come back on until car is turned off then restarted. Vacuum and fuse good. Don't know what the voltage should be reading but it does have voltage. Stumped and looking for ideas...
