Hey guys I'm planning to make a custom duel exit exhaust for my 3.5l 96 Chrysler Concorde.I'm going to cut the cats out replace them with pipe and right after is going to be a x pipe then duel exhaust all the way to the back with two straight thru mufflers at the end. What I'm asking is should I keep the 2.5" pipe or should I down size to 2" or go up to 3"? Not really looking for more horsepower just better sound but if it would add like 1-3% hp what would be best 2" 2.5" or 3"?
Good Looking 1st Gen LH there.
I would suggest you check DMV inspection and emission regulations in your state prior to removing the Cats. You will have a chronic Check Engine Light if you do that.
Power increase from these cars with exhaust work is virtually nothing, many have tried. Just eliminating the rear resonator will give you some sound as would the main muffler. The link below has many recommendations along with some videos and sound clips that may help you find what you want before spending a dime.
