hi!! My mom owns an '01 Chrysler 300M, she bought it about a month and a half ago, tha car has only 63000 miltes on it, it is running just fine, perfectly, but about one week ago the check engine light turned on.
I took it to th mechanics and they charged me 90 dollars to run the scan, which took about 20 mins and told me that it was code p0601 and that the pcm had to be changed and that is costs $640.

I cant believe it, this way out of our budget!! The car is running perfectly ant it has so little miles on it!!! Do you think this is right? what should I do? I find it hard to believe that only running the scan they know that it has to be replaced they didnt even check the piece. what should I do?

I know nothing about cars. I would appreciate if anyone could help me.

p601 is internal controller failure u will need to replace the pcm it wont do much for the running of the car it will do something when u go to get a tag or inspection.

go here buy the pcm and replace it yourself
