Default 03 sebring 2.7 sounds like a diesel engine. Any ideas?. Help

Hi ,

My wife´s 2003 sebring 2.7 starts making a new sound: It is "crock, crock, crock...", like a diesel engine sound. Anyone can help me with any idea? Valves sound? why?

Mileage: 65.000 only.

Thanks in advance,

Denis V.

It's essentially impossible to diagnose noises over the internet. Anything you get from here will be just a guess. It could be a connecting rod bearing (rod knock) which is a serious mechanical issue.

Hate to tell you buddy but that is a rod knocking.

DO NOT RUN the engine any more than you have to. IF this started suddenly and has not been run much you might be able to spare rod journal damage.
If it has been driven like that; most likely the rod journal is scored and a a cleanup and bearing replacement won't be the fix.
You are looking at replacing the crank. That is a deal breaker for most.
