First, get yourself a trim tool set. They are essentially plastic pry bars. They cost about $5 for a set of various shapes and are worth their weight in gold.

Pry off the speaker covers and the screw covers in the door handle pockets. Remove the screws hidden under there. Remove the screws along the bottom of the door. Once you have all the screws out, use the trim tool to pry loose the press-in retainers. When everything is unfastened, lift the panel straight up to disengage it from the top edge. Then reach under/behind it and unplug the wires and unhook the door lock lever.

Carefully peel off the water dam. You can use a razor blade to cut through the adhesive. Then you'll be able to stick it back on in the same location.

If you can find a shop manual, or a Haynes or a Chiltons manual, there should be some help in there.
