"Front" being the front of the engine, as distinct from the front of the car. The "front" of the engine is the end that is away from the "back" of the engine. The back of the engine is where the transmission is bolted on.
It so happens with Chrysler V type engines, the #1 cylinder that is closest to the front of the engine is in the bank of cylinders that is toward the rear of the car. Are you confused yet?
"Bank #1" is closest to the firewall.
"Bank #2 is closest to the radiator.
