Default 2000 jxi no crank

Hello. New to the forum. My daughter pulled in the drive way and when ready to leave, the car would not crank. I tried to jump it thinking it was a weak or dead battery to no avail. Pushed it into the garage and charged the battery. Did not make a difference, Replaced the starter and still no crank. All the lights on the dash come on and I can hear a relay chatter but no crank. I have check the fuses and swapped several of the possible relays in the box under the hood and still nothing. When the key is turned I get 12v to the connector on the starter and I measured 12v at the starter as well. Not sure what to do next.

Try cleaning every connection you can get to between the battery and the starter. Although you may have 12 volts there, a corroded connection may be able to pass voltage but not sufficient current to crank the starter.

I re-cleaned the battery terminals (were still good as the battery is about 18mths old and I cleaned them well when I installed it. I also cleaned the main ground on the strut tower. The connections on the starter are new and I cleaned the main power cable there as well. I will look in the engine compartment for other ground locations to clean and give it a go. Thanks!

Does the radio play? If not, check fuse #8 (20 amp) under the hood. A bad starter will pop the fuse which also powers the radio.
