Default 2001 sebring AC Evaporator Valve question.

I changed my evaporator valve and now its leaking(I put dye and did the black light thing). Its blowing from the back of the evaporator valve toward the glove box. when I took the old one off there were plastic pieces that looked to line the holes up. I didnt think I needed them so I threw them away but now I see its leaking. It looked like someone took a small piece of plastic tubing and put a 1/2in section of it.

My question is: What were those plastic pieces, Do I need them, And where can I get them

Pics below are of the little thing i found, I only have the big one(lost the small one) and its the OLD expansion valve.
