Default 2001 Sebring air conditioning issue

Hello all,
I have a newly acquired 2001 Sebring convertible with a 2.7l engine. A/c is charged and the a/c works in the defrost selection ( blows cold out the defrost vent or the defrost/foot vents when selected). Does not work when switched to a/c mode. Scan tool will confirm a/c clutch engaged and a/c switch on when in defrost and shows clutch and switch both off when selector switched to any a/c mode. Blend door operate properly as does the cold air/ hot air selector. I’m thinking possible HVAC head unit but would welcome any advice and/ or tests to confirm or eliminate other possibilities. Thanks in advance.

initial thoughts:
sounds like the control unit all right. based on your description, you have the 3-**** controller, correct?
If i get a chance, I'll pull up the schematics and see if there isn't something I can tell you to test.
looks like you'd be $50 or less for replacement, if you were inclined to parts cannon thing thing.

have you tried the simple thing of unplugging/plugging it? maybe you'll get lucky and it's just a loose or dirty contact on the back.
you can also give a visual to the pins and wires to see if anything is obviously broken/bad.
i'm spitballing the above as, it does sound like an internal problem.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and removed the head unit, took it apart, cleaned up the old lubricant on the metal contacts and gave them a small bend to ensure a good contact with the metal bands. Seems to have fixed the issue. Scan tools confirms a/c switch and compressor turn off and on with the switch and cold air coming out of the selected vents. Again, thanks for the input.

The cold air is not the issue where the air is blowing is the issue the mode door motor is controlled by the bcm on this module by unplugging the control head you reset the bcm .
If it happens again your likely looking at a body computer issue.

This happens sometimes in o4 Sebring I turn it on the defrost until it switches over and I leave it for about 3min the switch back to the vent with the ac still running and when it switches back to the vents it's working. I no its sounds ridiculous but I've been doing this for 2yrs. It's probably something else that's causing it but it gets it going for me. Also it won't work if I have it on the setting with the little car symbol. I have to leave it on the setting above it.
