2002 convertible limited
I just bought a 2002 Conv from a friend. I couldnt figure out why most of the electronic functions, the alternator ; security and many other things were not working. Then I was told that someone changed out the BCM with that of one from the junk yard. I asked for the original one back, they cant find it. What can I do to fix this vehicle correctly. According to what I read, I wont even be able to register it because the vin, mileage etc wont match. I bought it cheap, I love the look and the white leather interior, the body is showroom. The car will turn on, but runs off the battery and is not right at all. can someone tell me what to do please. I want to keep the car.

It's very simple. There are computer repair services on line (here's an example, there are others) who will sell you a re-manufactured computer, including body computers, on an exchange basis. You send them your VIN and mileage, they program the computer and mail it to you, then you send back the old one. Call them and tell them what your problem is and they will guide you through the process. I did that for my 2001 convertible's ECM. Cost about $200 (12 years ago). It's been working fine ever since. Let us know how it works out.
