Default 2002 sebring convertible engine problems

I don't have a Sebring yet, but am actively looking. Car complaints dot com says to 'avoid like the pèlague' the 2002 model because mainly of engine problmes.....I guess it gets gunky and fails after awhile. Does this sound about right to any of you guys??

Not really. Keep in mind that any 18-year-old car may have problems. Actually, it's pretty remarkable if it has survived that long, given all the problems that befall cars as they age. I had a 2002 that went about 120,000 miles when it got stolen and trashed. My 2001 is still running fine.
