Default 2008 Sebring convertible trim panel jammed

I bought a low mileage 2008 Sebring hardtop convertible a few weeks ago. I love the car but I’ve been having a few issues with the top. Right now the little trim panel on the passenger side, next to the back seat, that slides forward and back when the top is in operation is stuck so there’s an opening when the top is down. I think it might be necessary to remove the plastic trim panel inside the car (the panel with the speaker) to get at what’s obstructing that moving trim panel.

Any advice? I haven’t found a how-to yet on removing that interior panel.

You'll need to remove the rear seat cushion and rear seat back to get the side trim panel out. The usual method of removing a rear seat cushion is to press (very hard) down and to the rear on the seat cushion to free it from rear-facing hooks that hold it in place. Once you get the cushion out, removal of the seat back becomes obvious: remove the screws holding it in place, lift it straight up. Then you can pry off the speaker covers and unscrew thee speakers, then pry out the side trim panel. Get some plastic trim tools to avoid damaging the panel. They are cheap and worth their weight in gold.
