Default 2009 sebring AC making clicking sound

my 2009 sebring is making a clicking sound when i don't turn on the AC as soon as i turn the car on. it lasts about 15 seconds then stops, if i turn off the AC then turn it on again it will click again for another 15 seconds. my dad says it's the air compressor. is this right? would i have to change the entire compressor?

There is no air in AC system. If it would be - AC will not turn on, because the pressure in system would grow too high (25-30 BAR) and the pressure switch would turn of the compressor electrical clutch. First of all you should go to check the AC system. Pressures on high and low side, that way you will determine if the refrigerant (not air) is not contaminated by air or moisture and if the quantity is good and you will see if the compressor is working (because there will be high pressure on the high side, about 13-15 BAR, on the low side about 1,5 BAR). I suppose it will be R134 (R22 is forbidden in Europe, don't know about US). But anyway, if the AC is cooling good then everything is OK. I guess you should open the hood, try to listen and locate what makes that clicking sound. Could be a relay, compressor electric clutch...
