Default 98 convertible

was driving my jxi yesterday stopped at the store came back out and it did not start everything works lights radio etc just no crank..
got it towed home 10 miles off the tow truck and it started right up

knowing it did not fix itself drove it to my buddies house down the road no problem drove fine after an hour went back to start it nothing same as before

i left it at my buddies house
any ideas would be greatly appreciated

just an update

went to my buddies this morning car started right up try to scan no codes

drove it home just tried to start it again and again nothing

could it be the starter?

Might be the starter relay. Might be corrosion in the cables leading to the starter.
Might be the key switch or anywhere between it and the starter.

Get your volt-ohm meter out and start checking for continuity and voltage everywhere you can.

90% - it is starter relay. When you'll try to clean outside relay contacts, you will move the bolt and it may start work for couple day, and the the problem will shows up again. Better - replace the relay.

thank you where is the starter relay on this model
it is not in the pdb under the hood

update found the relay !! switched it with another one in the box still nothing

in 15 years doing electrical and diriveablity never had to replace a relay for any issue.

Check for spark and fuel I am gonna guess u have a bad distributor assembly

I think, we are talking about different relays. I'm talking about relay on the starter.

no I am quite aware of what relay u are talking about it would be in a little black box beside the longer fuse box under the hood.

I got the impression he was saying it wouldn't crank.
