Default AC, troubleshoot

I'm pretty sure my car has AC, but what do i look for under the hood and how do you activate it, i see a snow icon button and press it in but its already lit up on some of the ventilation settings, on what settings does it work and if it doesnt work would i just get it refilled and how much does that cost roughly?

Your car has A/C, but it sound like it's probably low on freon, which should not be surprising in a 13 year-old car.
You may or may not have a serious leak. Consider buying a kit, available at auto-parts stores (in the US at least) to recharge the A/C. They include a fitting to attach to your system and a can of refrigerant 134a (you may need two cans). That may do the trick for you. A better but more expensive route is to go to a professional and have him pump down (evacuate) the system and recharge it with the exact quantity of refrigerant the system was designed for. Expect to pay maybe something in the neighborhood of $100 for that kind of service. If he finds a leak then repairs will run up the price. Watch for a sale.
