All 4 door Sebring owners
I was comparing my insurance costs for my 2011 Ram 1500 versus my wife's 2007 4 door Sebring on collision. Her car cost over a hundred dollars more. I won't even bother going through the difference in current resale value. I am sure you can guess the Ram is more than 2 to 3 times the Sebring.
Why does it cost more? I checked with my insurance company and was told that the Sebring is classified as a Sports Coupe. They told me the state division of insurance sets the classification. So I called them. They told me Chrysler sets the classification so I called the dealer. Now I have entered the Black Hole of no one knows anything and couldn't care less. The dealer referred me to calling Chrysler, oh yeah that helps - NOT. I called Chrysler. They had no idea of who I could talk with and couldn't help even if they cared, which they didn't.
Soooo 4 door Sebring owners, you are most likely paying hundreds more for insurance than you should be because Chrysler has dumb asses making a car that can't spin its wheels even on ice a Sports Coupe.

I don't think the problem is with Chrysler. The problem would seem to be with the insurance company people who can't tell a four door sedan from a sports coupe. If it were me, I'd be shopping around for different insurance. There are numerous options.

Yeah I don't pay extra for my 06 limited; it wasn't till recently that a 4 door wasn't classified as a family car; I mean what cool hip person is going to run around in a FOUR DOOR? Now we got the Charger, it comes in 4 door only...For years that was a 2 door car....I think it's really just an over powered, larger 300...don't Sebrings come in 2 door models, like the convertible, a 2 door rag top.... THAT'S a sports car.
