Default Can I put a 04 sonata transmission in my 01 sebring

Just curious if I can, have a good transmission from a 2.7 sonata and a bad transmission in my 01 sebring 3.0....they look identical.

I suspect that none of the members here have tried to do it. Come back and tell us how it went.

Well she works, it hangs out for a short stint from 2nd to 3rd but I've now put 220 miles and it's still going. So as of now it's a success.

The only thing that I had to do was cut a little off of the upper mount. Every sensor was the same, I didn't even switch them. I checked the gear ratios and they were almost identical except for second gear which is 1.499 in the sebring and 1.53 in the sonata. Maybe that explains the hang out when switching?

That hang-up might smooth out after a time. The transmission computer "learns" from driving the car over time.

How long does the relearn process usually take?? It seems a little smoother now but still has the slight hangout, I have a little I've 400 miles on it now.

I don't know. It probably is a function of the number of shifts more than time and mileage. If it's getting better, that's a good sign. The dealer can run a "quick learn" program, but you'd probably have to take it to a Hyundai dealer, who probably would refuse to do it on your Chrysler. BTW, your Chrysler Sebring coupe was built by Mitsubishi.

Ok, so basically just keep driving. I'm not to savy with chrysler/mitsubishi as you can tell. And I honestly wasn't expecting it to work being a totally different transmission but I guess you don't know till u try.
