Car dies when letting off the throttle
Hey everyone. I'm the guy in the neighborhood with too many cars. My neighbors ask for my help when their cars have issues or they need their AC recharged. It's a 2003 Sebring 3.0 V6. It starts right up and idles fine, but dies after it has warmed up and when letting off the gas. It's throwing a P0140 code, but I'm not sure if it's related to the dying issue. I don't have much Chrysler experience other than owning a bunch of AMC vehicles.
What tests can I try to help her narrow it down before she starts throwing money at it?

First thing to do is pull any codes off the computer. If yours is a 3.0 L engine, then the car is a coupe. Coupes were built by Mitsubishi, not by Chrysler so when you look for parts, be sure to specify that it's a coupe. There are very few parts in common between coupes (Mitsubishi) and sedans/convertibles (Chrysler).
It is a coupe car. The only code it was throwing was the P0140 code, but she said the check engine light was on before it started stalling out. I've been searching through the forums for people with similar issues. Looks like most people change out the crank sensor.
The Mitsu V-6 engines are notorious for distributor problems. And it seems from what people post here that aftermarket distributors don't help. Search the forum here for many posts on the issue. Might want to search Mitsubishi forums also. Good luck.
