Default Chrysler sebring subframe 1997

Hello I recently jacked up the front of my vehicle using the sub frame. I started driving it and heard a giant clunking noise. I didn't jack it up by the cross member connecting the 2 engine mounts across the engine, but it looks a little cockeyed the one direction and there is like a flange in the middle on top of the cross member.

My question is, is jacking it up by the front sub frame okay and is the cross member supposed to not be straight up and down?

The cross member looks a little crooked, it is not parallel with the ground. I was wondering if it comes like that stock.
