door release rod

door release rod
I am trying to get the door panel off and have got the three screws at the bottom as well as the small piece of trim off and the screw in the arm rest taken off. Is there some kind of trick to get the door release rod off? The crutchfield instructions tell me to seperate the little white piece off which I guess is some kind of fastener for it and then pull it up out of the hole. Well there are only about 2 or 3 inches of space in there and there must be a trick involved because my big manly american hands are getting scratches all over them and I do not want to destroy this door panel. Just the plastic push pin deals are expensive to replace. Somebody please chime in that has taken the door panels off.

After you remove all the screws, carefully pop off the clip fasteners holding the rear edge. Then lift the top of the panel UP, NOT OUT, and away from the door. Then you will be able to access the rods from the top easily and disconnect them. Then disconnect the wiring.

Thanks for the info cotter I will try to do that. I was going from under the sucker and pulling from the bottom outward which put me a lot farther away from that sucker than going in from the top. I am going to give it a shot tommorow and see what happens. I just hope none of the clips or plastic breaks on me.
