Default Driver Side Mirror Cover Loose

My 1st post here. We own an '08 Sebring Conv. Someone in a parking lot hit the mirror cover on the drivers' side, and the cover on the front side will not stay on. The cover plastic has a slight bend or bow inward in one spot. There are about 5 or 6 tabs inside the cover, and they won't all quite line up to the holes in the base to "snap" back on; a few do, but not all. And of course there is only a limited view inside behind the mirror with the mirror tilted down. We tried heating it, but this plastic is pretty unforgiving. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea about this. Can the mirror itself be removed from the arm and cover to allow access? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the video! We will try removing the mirror now, which will give access to the clips on the outer cover.
