engine casting number
I'm new to the forum so please take it easy on me. I was wondering how I might decode an engine casting number to get the year that the engine came out of a car. The block has an 05 stamped on it but it came out of an 06 sebring convertible that was totaled. I also have a casting number on it that I can post if needed. The reason I ask is because the camshaft position sensor plug was not hooked up and i was told that this setup would work in 06. I know that the engine is not the original that came in the car. any insite would be helpful. Thanks
I wonder if you mean that the engine isn't the original one. Maybe you mean it has an engine that's been replaced by one where the car has been scrapped.
I recall I once read something about an option you can go with if the camshaft position sensor is faulty. It was like "Unplug the sensor and the engine does it anyway after a few revelations."
I don't know whether this is true since I have never been trying it out, but I guess maybe that's why the camshaft position sensor wasn't plugged in.
The part# for the sensor is 04609089AH; please check back on Chrysler Parts, Dodge Parts and Jeep Parts - Mopar Car and Truck Parts Overstock | Mopar Parts to make sure my information is correct.
