Headlight Poltergeist?
Help! I just bought my car about 3 weeks ago - 2016 Chrysler 200 - and the headlight switch physically changes position from "auto" to "off." And before you ask, I'm POSITIVE I'm not hitting it with my knee, my leg, my purse, or when I'm sitting in the driver's seat. Today as I was driving to work with my knee nowhere near the dash, the lights mysteriously got turned off...WHILE I WAS DRIVING. Anyone else ever experience anything similar? I named the ghost in my car Henry.
You were driving to work. I'm assuming it was morning. Perhaps the sun had recently come up. It does that. When the sun comes up, the lights are supposed to turn off when the switch is on "auto". Are my assumptions wrong?
it isn’t the lights themselves going off. It’s the light switch **** turning. You know where you rotate the **** to off, running lights, headlights, or auto? Turn-click-turn-click etc? That **** physically rotates from auto to off at all times of day. Is that supposed to happen? Happens at night also.

This is very interesting. I have a 2015 Chrysler 200 AWD and I have had the same thing happen on 2-3 occasions recently. Tonight I was driving home and was pulled over for having my lights off. The switch was physically rotated from the auto position to off. I never touch this switch and leave it in the auto position 100% of the time. My first thought was that I hit the switch with my knee or gym bag. I just spent some time in my garage trying to get the switch to off - jamming it with my knee...hitting it with my gym bag, slamming the door etc,. For the life of me I couldn't get it to the off position.
Within the last several weeks there were a couple of other times that I found the switch in the off position. I can't figure it out. I drive this car 100% of the time. Did you figure anything out? Could the switch be lose and getting moved by vibrations?
Anyone have any insights here? Thanks!

Dont laugh - literally “exorcised” my car. Told whatever was messing with my lights that this is MY car now and it wasn’t allowed to be there, mess with anything in the car, or attach to anyone. Since then it has only happened one other time. Repeated the same thing as above and again, no problems since that time. I did the same thing - tried to figure out how I was inadvertently hitting the lights - and couldn’t even TOUCH the lights getting in or out, even with a full backpack. I’m the only one who drives it and I also NEVER turn my lights off. I really don’t feel it’s anything Chrysler can diagnose. It’s random and happens both when I’m in the car driving as well as when it’s sitting in park and I’m nowhere near it. I stick by my poltergeist theory. Best of luck to you.

I have the same car and it was happening all the time. I had zero recollection of my knee getting anywhere near that silly switch but over the last couple years I've caught myself doing it more than once. As you go to stand up out of your car your knee brushes it just enough to rotate it from the auto switch location. Sometimes it goes two headlights on or parking lights and sometimes it goes all the way to off. It's really annoying. I have even thought about putting tape over it to hold it into the auto location. I love the car but that does annoy me.
