Question Jack pad slot height

I recently saw for sale rubber/vinyl jack pads, with a slot in them, for the ridge weld, so it doesn't rest on the jack and get crushed by the weight of the car. The jack that comes with the car has a slot like that, but this is for a floor jack.

However all the slots are shorter than the height of the ridge. They're about a half inch when the weld is about an inch. So what good is that?

Am I missing something? Do you guys have one? Which one? Thanks.

At the jacking points shown in the owners manual, the flange is three or four thicknesses of body metal and should be strong enough to support 1/4 of the car's weight without buckling. I usually put my floor jack under a flat spot further inboard near or under the anchor points for the front sub-frame, then put my jack-stands under the points called for in the owners manual for jacking. I have some flat reinforced rubber pieces (actually pieces cut from an old scraper bar from the snow thrower) to use as cushions on the jack-stands.
