Mopar trailer wiring harness
I just installed the mopar trailer wire harness for my 2006 Stratus/sebring sedan. I followed the instructions (pretty simple install), however, there is a problem. I have parking lamps and brake lightsworking on both of my trailers, no turn signals or hazards. Assuming the trailers aren't both malfunctioning, what do I need to check on my car?
I just plugged in my towing lights that we use with our tow dolly, once again, no turn signals or hazards. Do I just need to do something silly like remove the grease from the connector? Would that cause an open circuit?
Does your car have amber colored turn signals? If so, you must purchase a wiring kit that is designed to accomodate. It sounds to me like you have the kit for red turn signals.
Cars with amber turn signals require an electronic box to incorporate the "flasher" (turn and hazzard) signal wires into the "red" wires for the trailer.
If your car has red turn signals, see if your brake lights and turn signals operate on different bulbs. If so, you need the above item.

Additional thought:
My Jeep has what is called a "Sensitive electrical system". It actually requires a little more sophisticated electrical arrangement, one which actually supplies the power to the trailer lights with a seperate power lead direct from the battery. It is possible this may apply to your Sebring as well.
(Apparently the Jeep lighting system is not designed to handle the additional electrical current from the trailer lights.)

I just checked the car...red turn signals, different bulbs for turn signals and brakes. The harness does have a "combined rear lighting module". I may have gotten the wrong harness. I guess I'll be calling my dealer's parts dept in the morning to double check the part numbers. Ijust noticed that in the instructions, the third brakelight is in the rear window, not the decklid like my sedan. This may be the kit for the 96-00 models. Thanks for the input.
Btw, I had the "weak" light issue with our cherokee. Not the case with this one. The lights are bright, just no turn signals.

I checked with the dealer, and it's the same part number for 98-06. I just had my car checked out by a friend, and we aren't getting any power to the turn signals at the plug in. Everything is hooked up according to the instructions, just no turn signals. We did hook up my aux trailer lights to his truck, and they did work, so that eliminates that. It's looking like the relay on the harness is nfg. Chrysler Tech, is there any checks that I should do before trying to return or exchange this harness?
