Unhappy Sebring 2004 V6 2.7L - Belts, please help

Hey Guys

I bought a Sebring 2004 V6 2.7L last week and I am trying alot of DIY projects which saves me alot. Last night I heard a funny noise when parallel parking when I turned steering wheel to left position. I spoke to Canadian Tire and they told me that it may be the power steering belt. I am very confused, I read in posts of this site it might be the power steering belt, indeed. When I went to CT the guy sold me a serpentine belt and told me this is the same. When I recalled them, they told me I should change another belt also that controls th A/C, etc at the same time.

Is there a difference in the Power Steering Belt vs. the Serpentine Belt? and whats the new type of belt he is referring to?

Please help me, someone, please.

On the 2.7 L engine there are two drive belts. There is a serpentine belt that drives the air conditioning compressor and the generator. There is also a conventional V-belt that drives the power steering. If you need to replace the power steering belt, you might as well replace the serpentine belt at the same time because it is probably equally deteriorated and anyway, it must be removed in order to get to the power steering belt.
Both belts are at the right end of the engine. To get to them, you will need to remove the right front tire and then remove the splash shield. If you need more instructions, come back and ask.

Smile Thanks a million for your clarification, Dcotter

I thank you very much bro, this has certainly clarify things for me alot. I will now proceed with changing them. Would the 3/8 work for both or do I need to get a special kit for this DIY. Thanks again.

I don't know what you mean by "the 3/8", but you will need proper tools, including a solid jackstand (don't rely on the car jack) to hold up the car, screwdriver and pliers to remove the plastic push-pins that hold the splash shields and metric sockets to loosen the belt tension.
