Default Sebring convertible boot cover. Will a 96 fit a 2002?

Just picked up a sweet 2002 Sebring limited and it's missing its boot cover. It's got a black rag top and the boots for those are going for close to $500 on ebay, but found a nice one for $60 on Craigslist. Owner says it will fit but when I've searched for this from online salvage yards, their online firm has it as different models.

Anybody know about this?

If the seller is confident that it will fit, ask him if he will take it back if it doesn't. The tops didn't change much from 2000 to 2001 but the body did change. Little things can result in something like a boot not fitting, like a relocated snap fastener. You might also search online for the Chrysler Sebring Convertible Club (it's a forum like this one) and ask over there. If you learn anything substantial, report back.

Problem is shipping. He's in GA, I'm in MD. Round trip UPS would be $60. Too much. I'll try and find that forum and ask there too. Thanks, Tim

There is an early boot (96 to 01) and a later folding boot (01 to 06). They are interchangeable, but the later folding boot really needs snaps to secure it properly. The early boot can be used on all of the 96-06 cars. The boots were switched midway during the 01 production year, so only the later 01’s have the snaps. Snaps can easily be installed on the early cars. Good Velcro pads are the key to the boots staying attached properly.
