Thumbs down Sebring/ Intrepid truths??

I have heard horror stories about the 2.7 motors, but can't find any facts, so I am contacting you here. is there any truth to the timing chain issues that I hear of? I have been a mopar man all of my life, and I am contemplating buying one of these cars, a Sebring or an Intrepid for my girl-friend, and want for her to be in safe hands
thanks
Steve

Well, I have a 2.7 with 191,xxx miles on it. While I've recently had some minor problems with the car, they have not been related to the engine.

I have a 98 with 198K on it and my water pump just gave out 3 days ago so I am rebuilding it as we speak. Thats the only issue I have had and BTW not a drop of sludge in the motor.

Thumbs up

thanks to those of you that have responded, I am more than confident in the decision to purchase such an "animal", now more than ever.
I have had good luck on the Dodge forum, and have been able to help, and now the Chrysler is a placetha I feel at home. I just wish I could be more tec savvy, and get through the mazes easier.

I just heard about this on another forum as well. Trying to get some background on a problem before my parents' Sebring goes to the shop on Thursday.

I am using Synthec in my Ram, and intended to do the same in this car, by the way, I am putting 10-18k niles on the engins, and am sending off the sample, and everything is very positive as to it's condition. I couldn't be happpier.
