Default Set screw 2001 convertible

Does anyone know the dimensions for the set screws holding the convertible top latch in place? I am missing both of them and rather than go to my dealer (who decided that tightening the latch all the way instead of replacing the screws was the solution) to get some, I'd rather get some on my own. But, none of the ones I tried at Lowes fit.

I don't know the size but I'd bet a beer that they are metric, probably about M-6 or so. My local ACE Hardware carries metric set screws. You'll probably need a metric allen wrench to drive them. Were those Lowe's screws metric or SAE sizes?
Let us know what you find out.

I thought they would be metric. Lowes only had SAE and they were out of the one that I think it would be if it were SAE. I'll try another place another time.

Let's hear it for Ace. Set screw is M8. I believe the thread was 1.25.

You got me curious, so I checked mine. One loose, one missing. The factory screw came out with a T-15 torx driver. I took it over to my local ACE. It's actually an M-6, length = 6 and thread = 1.0. 60¢ plus tax.
Maybe the one you picked out to match was in the M-8 box, but I measured mine against the screw sizer there and also with my calipers at home. It's a 6mm diameter for sure.

The ACE screws are allen heads, 3mm allen wrench.

Maybe M-8 was what I grabbed first and M-6 was from my second trip. That'll teach me to not write anything down.

Next time, drive the car into the store so you can get the right part on the first trip. LOL
