Hello all. Im new to the forums. Just got a deal on a 2001 sebring LXi that i couldnt pass up but i have an issue with it. Iv got a code P1689 no CCD messages from the tcm. Now the lady i bought it off said that her dash guages and radio would intermittently cut out and do weird things. According to some work orders i found in the car, the trans would not shift out of 1st and she had the TCM replaced ('good used'). The car shifts fine and i'v yet to experience the guages malfunction. Am i looking at a possible chafed harness shourting out my datalink? Any problem areas in the harness that anyone has found concerning this? Any help would be appreciated.

 

Oh, its a 2.7 v6 btw.

What type of scanner? I dont have a factory scanner but iv got a pretty good one on my laptop that can access the tcm. I wouldnt consider my an amateur being a mechanic myself. It seems like an intermittent fault so i was thinking it is a wiring problem (chaffed or rubbed). If you had pinouts of the connectors that would be very helpful. Thanks.

 

Can u talk to the TCM if so then u dont have a communication issue or wire issue because U can talk to it. Is that the only cored? and was that from the TCM or PCM what about the other codes?
