Default Transmission filter

Hi all,

Thinking of changing the trans fluid on my 2002 Sebring 2.7 automatic transmission. My Haines manual is a bit confusing (old age lol). Does this model have a trans filter? The manual says to remove the trans cooling hose by the radiator and drain while idling car for no more than one minute. Then remove transmission drain plug and drain tranny. No mention of dropping trans pan and replacing filter.

Any help on the proper procedure would be much appreciated. Jim

Thanks TECH. The darn Haines book shows removing the pan and replacing the filter on 2001 and earlier. Their instructions for the 2002 and later detail removing the trans hose at the radiator then draining the trans via plug removal on trans. No mention of pan removal or that it even has a filter. Thus the confusion. Thanks again!
