Default 300c headlight problems

I have a 2005 300c and one of the headlights turns on and off at random. These are the bright halogenones I believe. The light sometimes stays on butmost of the time when I start the car the lights come on fine(I keep the headlightswitch in auto mode). Then after a random period of time, the problem headlightflashes on and off for several times before finally staying off. It does not seemto bea connection problem or a heating problem to me because if I turn the headlight switch to off and then on, the offending headlight always comes on immediately but will then eventually go off. Is this likely a headlight that needs to be replaced or is there anything I can do to try and fix it given the cost of a replacement unit. If you think it needs to be replaced, are there any directions on how to do it yourself?

Regards,
Marlon

Just by reading your post - I think it is a overheating problem. That's the thing with Halogens, especially hi-watt ones like I think you have there. As far as the cost of replacing them - could not be more than $15-30 at AutoZone etc. If I were you, I'd go with HID's, no problems there.

If you have the HID headlights (will have the headlight washers on the bumper) replace the bulb, I hope for your sake its still under warranty, they are about $300 each. The ignighter built onto the bulb is bad.

I used to have a smilar problem. My left headlamp used to blink randomly and they had to reprogram something at the service center and then it was all fine. I hope this works with ur car!

Hi
This is a known problem and they have modified the bulbs. If your dealer will not cover this I can send you the technical info on how to identifier the faulty bulbs.

Hi
The old style bulbs have a high voltage symbol stamped on the back of them and the new style bulbs have a white sticker on the back of them with a yellow high voltage symbol. Number 04865941AC is the lasted I think don’t fit a AA number.
