Default Changing Actuator: Air only comes out of defrost vent sometimes

Hello everyone, I am going to need a little help here because of conflicting information I am reading, and being told in other places.

My 2012 300S will blow air out of the front defrost vents sometimes despite what is selected on the control panel. I bought a new actuator to replace whichever one is broken, but I am confused which one I have to replace in both its definition and location.

Can anyone tell me if I need to place the mode door or blend door actuator? And would anyone happen to know which one it would be, with a picture that might help me?

In other places I am being told it is the "blend door" I have to replace, yet the description of "mode door" fits what I am experiencing better (temperatures are ok on both sides of the car, nothing is clicking, just blowing out the wrong vent sometimes). I have also been told to replace the bottom one when I have seen an image that shows the bottom is the blend door and top one (driver's side) is the mode door. The Haynes book I bought is useless to help clear confusion as the actuators are never even mentioned inside it.

Thank you in advance for helping. I am going in circles trying to search this info.
