Default Fuming exhaust

Hey guys, thanks for the add. Mine is a 2013 Chrysler 300c luxury 3.0L CRD in Black. Currently I have an issue with the exhaust where the flexible mesh near the catalytic converter is cracked sending fumes out from under the bonnet and into the cab when the engine does a 'dump'. On talking to my mechanic about it, I found that the price for the original part to replace the cat and flexible joint was absolutely ridiculous, well over $7K plus fitting. Does anyone know of an after market replacement or perhaps an alternative fix for this problem, i.e. taking the flexible joint out al together?

Talk to the dudes at your local muffler exhaust. Find out who does custom work. Chain stores, such as Tuffy, will not touch it due to legalities but guys that do work with the drag strip/hot rod community will set you right. You may want to rethink replacing that flex joint and cat and opt for a scrap yard replacement.
