Smile Halogen Projector Headlamp Adjustment

This applies to the current generation 2014 - 2023 300 vehicles. My car from new has had the adjustment a bit on the high side, with the passenger side being slightly higher than the driver's side.

300 went in for its 3rd annual service this last week, I gave the dealer a short 'laundry list' of items to look at, including headlamp adjustment. Drove 300 after dark last night for the first time since the service visit: driver's side appears to be correct, while the passenger side is obviously too low. The passenger side horizontal adjustment appears to be off, but I'm reading that there is NO horizontal adjustment available, only vertical adjustment.

I want to attempt the adjustment myself now, rather than making another trip to the dealer. I'm writing off this experience as 'lesson learned'.

My last Chrysler ownership experience (1985 LeBaron GTS) was back in the mid '80s to early 90s - decent car, less than stellar service departments. My impression at the time was: 1. Mopar dealerships consistently failed to train their techs, 2. Mopar consistently hired people as techs who were untrainable, or, 3. I consistently failed the 'secret handshake' tests. Same opinion of GM dealerships at the time.

I consistently paid for numerous GM and Chrysler warranty issues 'out of pocket', while I NEVER paid for a FORD warranty issue out of pocket - had few, if any issues with Ford products to begin with. Last GM product purchased was a 1981 Chevrolet C10 - nothing since. The 300C has appealed to me from its inception in 2005 due to its Mercedes engineering and Hemi V8 power.

After selling off my 2004 Mercury Marauder, I took the plunge on a 2020 300S Alloy Edition I was (and still am) smitten by. I'm down from 5 vehicles to two in my retirement years, the other being a 2019 Ranger Lariat Super Crewcab.

Don't waste $92.50 plus fees for your dealer service department (like I did) to mis-aim your standard halogen projector headlamps. On my 2020 300S, all I needed was a 10mm socket wrench, or a 10mm box wrench, or a #2 phillips head screw driver with the 8" stem. I used the screw driver, a Snap On tool from one of my 4 tool boxes that contain a little bit of everything.

I recommend using a flashlight to make sure the screw driver and scroll gear are properly engaged as I can imagine the scroll gear could be damaged otherwise.
