Replaced Half Axles Now Hearing Low Grinding Noise
1999 300m 235K miles
Just finished replacing:
- Sway bar bushings
- Lower control arm/ball joints
- Tension Struts/bushings
- Outer tie rod ends
- Half axles
During the test drive afterward, there was a low grinding noise coming from only the right front. This is a new noise. I torqued everything to spec. The axle hub was torqued to 135 ft lbs. Any ideas on what could cause this would be appreciated. Could the axel hub be too tight?
Thanks

The problem turned out to be the backing plate rubbing against the rotor. Must have bent it slightly while changing everything. Simple fix to bend it back. With all the new parts, the car has a solid feel to it and handles like new!!
