Default replaced timing chain now wont start

2008 2.7 300 I replaced the timing chain now it wont start I get a few times were i get some fire up but never starts, I had the starter start smoking on me as well when I was doing the job. the timing is fine because I tore it back down to check in fact ive replaced starter twice and tore it down to the timing chain three times I am one step away from hunting down the idiot who designed this motor or throwing a match in the gas tank. any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Why did you replace a timing chain to start with ? Second the starter smoking like that is excessive draw like something to tight in the engine

I replaced the timing chain because the water pump went. I know something was not allowing the motor to turn and I found out too late what it was so it burned up the starter. I have replaced the starter. the motor will not run now, and i can not figure out why because it is getting fuel.

Could it be that this engine is so far "out of time" that the exhaust valves are still closed on the exhaust stroke. That would make the engine hard to turn and burn up your starter.
Me thinks timing and installation of the new chain and components is your issue.

no starter burned up because my dumb *** put the crank gasket on the wrong side of the timing chain cover and that locked up the motor. It ran before i did that just acted like timing was off. But wasn't.

sounds like to me either you have a vapor lock or your timing is still jacked up
