Default 07 Aspen DTC P0196

Check engine light came on this morning when i started the vehicle. Ran it through my OBD II reader and got code P0196. Ive looked it up and got the Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Range/Performance. All the DTC lists ive looked at shown this code in red? Not sure what that means. Also dont know what to check, the sensor? Wiring? Any help is much appreciated. A little frustrated at this point...

It's either the sensor, a short, or the PCM in more unusual cases. The sensor is a $30 part...that's where I would start if you don't want to pay someone for diagnostics.

P0196 CHRYSLER Description
The engine oil temperature sensor is used to detect the engine oil temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine oil temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increases.( in short change the oil switch )
