Post 2008 Aspen Radio and Camera Upgrade advice?

Good morning! I'm a proud new owner of a 2008 Aspen 4x4 5.7L Hemi. This should help tow our 3500 pound rotisserie BBQ trailer around. As a bit of a technophile, I'm interested in upgrading the radio and VES screen if that is at all possible. I'm looking for anyone who may have advice or experience in doing so. I would like to get a radio, back-up camera and video display from that is on par with today's tech. I'm a pretty competent DIY'er, but I'm new to the Aspen and auto-tech.

Can anyone recommend any products that would fit? Bonus if you have pics and schematics. Thank you in advance. I'll gladly trade advice on BBQ and smoking

Thank you!
Jeffrey

Hi Jeffrey,
I have a 2007 with Alpine sound system but without navigation (so the funky cutout with ears :-) ) and it came with an aftermarket Pioneer single DIN unit that already had the wiring harness + steering wheel control adapter (PAC I believe - it's a blue box with a selector for the brand of radio you have)

I installed a Kenwood dmx706s using an Xscorpion double DIN kit.

1. There's a lot of cutting both on the center console trim and behind it to make it fit. The double DIN kit does come with a template so it's doable. I've seen other writeups where they get a center dash from one with navigation so you already have the double DIN cutout. I would recommend that!
2. You cannot adjust the fader from front to back.
3. I haven't tried the VCC so I can't comment on that.
4. I would recommend checking out crutchfield's website - they have a lot of info and guides to help you out.
5. I replaced the 12V power outlet with an AUX/USB one - it's difficult to get the 12V power outlet out - two small plastic tabs accessible from the front. Google it...
6. There's a nice lip on the rear hatch where a small backup camera would fit and I'm looking to add one. TBD...

Double DIN

I’m looking to upgrading to a RHR radio. They were released in 2011. Currently, my RER radio constantly power cycles.

This site here has a lot of info on replacing or upgrading your radio. Not sure what type of radio you have.

I'm looking for help on this topic too. I have a 09 Limited with the alpine speaker setup as well. I want to keep the existing head unit and speakers I just want to add in my aftermarket sub. Does anyone know what exactly I need to do in order to make this happen? Thanks in advance any help is appreciated.

Hi, did your setup allowed for the alpine sound system to be used or was it bypassed? I am not finding any harnesses for it.
