Default 60K service question

I'm due for my 60K service on my 08 Aspen Limited J package with 5.7 L hemi. According to the manual the air filter, spark plugs, and oil and filter are required changes with several "inspect" items. Would you perform the transfer case service and trans service that's only recommended for police, fleet, taxi or towing - none of which my Aspen does that the dealer wants to do? I prefer to stick to the services listed in the manual, but would like other opinions. Thanks.

  • Manufacturer's Recommendations = based on engineer's input
  • Dealer's Recommendations = based on profit model

Personally, I choose to stick with the requirements in the owner's manual. I just passed 60k myself, and I'm doing exactly what you're doing and skipping the inspections.

I personally go by the severe schedule as I plan to keep the vehicle for a long time. I try to do this work myself where I can and stay away from the no-star stealership.
