Default Airbag recall

Notices are going out that many Aspens are being recalled for faulty airbag inflators. Here's the info, and I've been told by Chrysler that owners of affected vehicles will receive notices when parts are available.

Chrysler Recall # R25
NHTSA Recall # 15V-313
Recall Date: May 26, 2015

Safety Defect/Non Compliance Description and Safety Risk
THE DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR HOUSING MAY RUPTURE, DUE TO EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE, DURING NORMAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS. THIS CONDITION IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO HIGH LEVELS OF ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS, COULD RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING AND POTENTIALLY SERIOUSLY INJURING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT(S).

Repair Description
THE DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR MUST BE REPLACED.

Recall Status
INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE

Have any of you received a letter re: the recall yet? Mine arrived around 2 weeks ago, but it simply said the parts on on order and my dealer would be in touch once parts are available.

Yes, I received mine a week or two ago. Didn't notice the parts not available part until you mentioned it and I read it in more detail. It says the same thing that I will receive a follow up notice when parts are available.

I received my notice too. Took it in and was out in an hour and a half here in Houston.

What sucks is that I had it in the shop just a couple days before I received the notice and wondered why they didn't take care of it while it was in there. They didn't even inform me of the recall. Of course, like I said, the letter did say that parts were not available so that may be why. However, I felt like they could of least told me about it while I was there.

I received a notice for the passenger side airbag several months ago. However it said that parts required for a permanent remedy were currently not available and that I would be notified again when they were available. Haven't heard anything since. So I'm guessing they still don't have a fix for it.

Hey calamity coyote,

You can sign up to receive an email notification when recall parts are available by going to www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls. That way you can get notified even faster than waiting for the letter in the mail!

I need to get mine in to do this soon. I finally got the notice that parts were available. Funny how it showed up shortly after signing up on the website that Chrysler Cares mentioned above. By mail, not email though. LOL. Sadly now Saturday's are my only day available for this. How long did it take to do the passenger side? I know the drivers side was real quick. Less than an hour. TBH, I'm not even sure what they did. Truck never even moved from the service drop off lane and I couldn't see anything different on the truck. On recalls I've had done in the past for my other vehicles I could at least tell something was done.
