Default Bug Shields - Do they work???

Now that spring is here, my windshield gets completely covered with bugs every 2 or 3 days.

Does anyone have a bug shield and more importantly, does it work?
If so, do they cut the amout of bugs on the windshield by 25%, 50%, 100%?

Thanks

I find them to be almost completely useless. Their only benefit is that they protect the paint on the hood behind the shield.

Thanks, I figured it was a gimmick. They do "look" good though.
