Ceramic brake pads
Is anyone using ceramic brake pads on their Aspen? The OEM pads dust quite a bit, and I'm looking for a good pad that will reduce dusting and still be quiet. My Lexus had the same issue, and ceramic brake pads allowed me to go from cleaning the wheels every 2 days to going several weeks without major brake dust.
Thanks for your input.

I put ceramic pads on my 07 Aspen a couple months ago and they work great. Hardly and dust and perfectly quiet. The stock ones i had were extremely squeaky so thats what made me make the change to ceramic. I got the Wagner brand ones from advanced auto parts and couldn't be happier.
Are these pads a little more aggressive? I seen a problem with the braking on this vehicle when we bought it... the brake pedal is way to soft, and you almost have to ride the brakes to get it to stop smoothly (with no nose dive), and since you basically have to ride the brake pedal, the rotors would warp... and what do ya know... our rotors are just starting to vibrate. I think a more aggressive pad will help with this situation, braking instantly with little pedal, stopping without the heat.
Al, I think the brake judder (vibration) can also be caused by cheap factory rotors. I'm going to put aftermarket rotors on my Aspen when I change out the brake pads to ceramic.
When they put the ceramic pads on my Lexus through a TSB for "excessive brake dust", they were clear that the new pads can cause more rotor wear. For that reason alone, I'm replacing both brakes and rotors when I do the job.

Ceramics will reduce the brake dust, but keep in mind that they are not the best choice if you tow with your Aspen. The ceramics provide stopping and dust benefits but the negative is that they do not dissapate heat very well, which will actually warp your rotors sooner and extend your stopping distance. Learned this the hard way, went back to Napa premium semis.
