Default Hemi - new plugs at 30k - WHY???

I was pretty surprised to see that we have to replace spark plugs in the Hemi engine at 30k. Is there a reason Chrysler has chosen not to use longer life plugs (100k) in these engines, other than to get into the owners' pockets more often?

The Plat plugs are used on cars and trucks that have high heat issues inside the combustion chamber. The Hemi does not have this issue and requires copper plugs that's why u change them every 30k.

Second when u pay to have the plugs changed none of that money goes to chrysler.

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying about conditions for plat plugs, but can't they be used anyway? Chrysler could have made the engine easier to care for by opting for the plat plugs instead of the 30k plugs that most automakers no longer use.

Question: If I replace the plugs with platinum, can I go 100k?

Also, I meant money in the dealers' pockets. Developing vehicles with frequent service intervals on expensive items like spark plugs and diff fluid = more revenue for service departments. It's short sighted, though, because owners remember these things when it's time to buy a new vehicle.

I would not change from using copper plugs to plat.
Why does any engineer design the car the way it is I duno some of the things they do I wonder but who am I to question them. I just fix them not build them.

I don't see why you can not use plat. plugs.
