Default Oil recommendations

I would like to start using Mobil One fully synthetic in my Aspen with the Hemi engine. Does anyone have an opinion on this,? it seems to meet all requirements found in the manual.

Hey Moe,

I also use Mobil 1, as I hear it is really good, but aren't all synthetics? Here is my question. Is the extra expense worth it. Mobil 1 is about three times more. My dealer said I could go 6000 between changes if I used synthetic, so the cost is mitigated by changing oil half as often. But changing oil is not that big of deal (now that ssaspen gave me a great idea on how to change that dang filter). Since I have to comply with the dealer mandated every 6K change to keep the lifetime warranty intact, and the fact that the Aspen takes 7 quarts of oil, oil changes cost $60 with filter using Mobil 1. Giving our driving habits, I will spend $1250 on oil alone for Mobil 1 in the next five years. So saving about $800 starts to be a player. So is it worth it? Also, I have read that synthetic oil is good for at least 10K. What have you guys read about that?

A lesson to learn here. When doing your own oil changes, chrysler will not support you with the warranty if your engine blows due to a non chrysler part or if a non chrysler part is not installed properly. It happened to my sister. I had her oil changed at a localservice centerand they didn't seat the filter on properly. The oil leaked out and the rest is history. Blown engine. She got lucky she kept the receipt though and her insurance covered a used engine. They are now suing the service center.
