Default Rear bumper step pad removal/replacement

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in replacing the black plastic step pad on my 08 Aspen's rear bumper, as 6 years in the sun have faded it to the point where it looks like crap. Even plastic restoration products aren't cutting it anymore.

I found the part number, and it's about $50 to get it -- 68002930AC

Question: Does anyone know how to remove the existing step pad? Is it just a matter of prying it up, or does the rear bumper cover/fascia have to be removed?

Thanks!

The way these cars are desinged today. i would imagine that having to take the bumper cover/fascia off is going to be the answer. It is harder...LOL

It looks like the step pad is only secured to the bumper cover with clips, but I want to be sure that's true before I try to replace it.
