I received an email from Chrysler Canada today stating that it will honor all warranties and work contracts. It also stated that Fiat and Chrysler will be joining and not to expect any changes of any kind from any Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer.

Bill, your dealer closed its doors because it wasn't making it, not because Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection. I don't know if you got the memo, but each dealer is individually owned, and they come and go like any other business if they're not managed correctly or aren't making sales.

By way of comparison, I have a dealer 5 miles from my house that is doing just fine.

Also, you shouldn't be making blanket statements about loss of warranty with no facts to back up your assertions. The new administration has stated specifically that they will support manufacturer's warranties in the event that manufacturers do not survive the downturn. Regardless, Chrysler still exists.

You are correct, with one exception. Chrysler warranties will be in effect as long as Chrysler exists. Valley, your dealer closed for its own independant business reasons, not due to Chrysler corporate. Chrysler filed Chapter 11, which allows it to reorganize and continue. It is not about closing its doors.

The exception to your statement: The government was very specific about the covering of Chrysler warranties. It will not cover all existing warranties in the event that Chrysler does not make it. It will only back the warranties of vehicles that were purchased during the bankruptcy period, which, Chrylser hopes is only for the next month.
