My first car was an '83 Plymouth Turismo 2.2 5 spd (Charger cousin). That was a fun little car for the era. I kept it the longest 5 yrs/115k miles. Overall, it was reliable, but I did have to replace the normal: clutch (also drove it hard), rebuilt Holley carb, wheel bearing, struts, exhaust (no stainless steel back then).

I had several fun cars after it: '92 Plymouth Duster 3.0 (Shadow ES clone), '92 Daytona Iroc 3.0, '95 Talon TSI, '97 Talon TSI AWD (very fun).

I had that same leak. The dealer fixed it under warranty. have them check the driver side door for leaks or improper seal. I noticed it when my Aspen sat in the rain for a while. At first i thought maybe the door wasn't closed all the way then it happened again. They fixed it in 07 never had that problem again

The electrical issues sound like there is a problem with the TIPM. The thing under the hood that looks like a fuse box but is really a computer. It pretty much powers up everything in the car. I'm surprised they didn't at least do some sort of wiggle test and check the connectors and grounds.
Well I'm glad that I'm not the only one that had electrical issues... Last year here in Houston we had 3-4 days in a row of rainstorms right after a drought came out to my truck and started it up, all my electrical guages, air, lights, radio, etc. went crazy. The truck stayed on and then it stoped. Opened up my Fuse access and noticed water. I took it to the dealership and they said they were too busy and to bring it back in the morning. Their awesome tech said nothing was wrong, and charged me 85 dollars. This happend again a day later, and took it back. All they did was re-flash my ECU and charged me again. The third and final time happend when I was driving on the expressway, turned around and told them to do a water test to the truck.

Low and behold, my Sunroof drains were plugged, which then caused the water to drain down my A-pillars and shorted out my fuse panel. 2 days at the dealership and me with no car / didn't offer me a loaner, charged me 600 bucks for the fuse, and padding under the driverside due to rain. They said it wasn't covered under any warranty due to is was my fault of not clearing my sun roof drains. WTH. where in the maintenance manual does it say to clear the drains. The dealership told me if I want to bring it in every 60k miles and pay them to clean it for 200 bucks.. I don't think so...

Anyways.. there is my rant, I have been a Mopar fan for years, but after this experience with the dealership and no assistance other than calling me a liar on the water this will be my last.

Since then I have had more issues with my truck that I will bring up in another post.

If you have a Sunroof, my issues were from the Drains being plugged up with grime when having it open.

The dealership had to remove my whole headliner and clear the lines. They charged me 200 bucks to do it.

I hope this helps....

Default Aspen Electrical problems

I've had my electrical system on my 2010 Aspen go crazy three time all carwash or rain related. Every dashboard light lit up the alarm constantly sounded the windshield wipers wouldn't shut off the rear window wiper wouldn't turn on the radio cut out lost the overhead temp read out and the power windows didn't work until the ignition was turned off.

The first time this happened I'd gone through the carwash and water came pouring through a closed sunroof. Each time there has been water in the footwell near the drivers left foot. From reading various posts this is caused by water draining from the sunroof and getting into the fuse box. Does anyone have any additional information or a fix?

99.9 percent of the problems listed are related to the drains from the sunroof. Water runs down the a-pillar and enters the fuse panel located near the drivers foot. After dealer fixed our 2007 aspen they sealed the panel in plastic so if the drain did plug again it wouldn't flood the panel. Bought car new in 07, just turned 140,000 miles and couldn't be happier. Repair was done at approx. 40,000.

I had the same leak & my Aspen doesn't even have a sunroof. Water was coming in through the driver door near the instrument panel.

Default Aspen Electrical problems Water leaks

For the past 6 months I haven't been able to go through a car wash or rain storm without my electric going nuts and water gathering on the floor by the drivers left foot. I've read on this site about problems with drainage tubes in the skylite which I couldn't even find. This a.m. I went to Pep Boys for an oil change and asked them to take a look at the skylite where they did find some blockage which they removed. I just came from the carwash and NO PROBLEMS!

p.s. Pep Boys charged $0.00 the clear the blockage. It was just part of the oil change service.

I too had the same leaks last year. I got the rough end of the stick when the water got into my fuse panel on the driver side kick panel. It shorted out my throttle position sensor and then screwed my timing up. The motor was running like crap on the way in to work and the next thing I know I dropped a valve and cratered my motor. Luckily I was the original owner of this unit and the dealership replaced the entire motor under the lifetime powertrain warranty. Dodged that bullet for sure!

...Then just yesterday here in Houston we had some down poors and wouldn't you know it the same problem only this time I didn't even try and start it. I went immediatly to the fuse panel and dried it out along with the inch of standing water in my floor board! All this because of a plugged sunroof drain tube. I will think twice before owning a car with a sunroof...

Every time it rains we loose most all electrical connectivity. We have lost the wipers while traveling in the rain that is down right scary! From what I read on the forum there is no fix and the MFG says its not a problem. Not a Happy Owner.
