'04 Pac transmission jerking when starting out
This post almost falls in the "flickering lights topic" History: The car is a family member new car purchase. We got it at about 30k miles, I had the trans serviced by a B-G sponsored shop that is known to be very reputable shop. 50k miles later the trans needed repair, was rebuilt under the B-G warranty and was fine for a while. Very short quick jerks sometimes when starting from a stop. Much was checked and the trans was removed again but No problem was found. Shop says there is nothing wrong with the trans and the car is the problem and I believe them not knowing what is causing the codes and jerking. Otherwise the car has normal power.
We have read the posts about the grounding problems and the alternator causing problems. The body grounds underneath the battery were not very dirty and the terminals are tight. The cable under the fuse box is good too. We took off the alt and a rebuild shop said we would be wasting our money to rebuild it saying the clutch is a little loose and the wave form is pretty good so no cost to check. A tech mentioned that the looseness in the clutch may be causing a erratic signal. We bought a DENSO factory rebuilt alt from them. The first day it was great and drove almost like a new car ! Next day fully warmed up, same as the old problem with the small quick jerks only when starting out but not nearly as often. Had another trans shop drive it and using a Snap On scanner we could feel the problem but the scanner could not find it. Am thinking now the problem may be in the wiring somehow. Someone had posted before about finding pinched wires somewhere but where were they ? We didn't find the post about it. Could someone please help ? We did see that behind the drivers side headlight there are several elect plug ins and we should check and clean them to be sure. Sorry to say that a new alt didn't fix our problem. This forum is great and has some golden info so please keep it going. Thanks. *BW*
